phandlo
Thank you for reading this. I've found 133 caches using my Android phone but there have been times when there isn't any mobile coverage available. I'd like try my Etrax in those circumstances but it is a tedious business to manually enter way points. I have both gpsbabel and gpsbabel-gui (for Linux) that will upload various file formats but it would be much simpler if I could list the coordinates, in say a text file, and then upload them to my Yellow Etrax. Is this possible? I do have the c:geo app but I'd like to try the Etrax since it's been sitting idle for many years. . Quote Link to comment
+ras_oscar
Most garmin gps units will read cache information directly from a GPX file. If you are a premium member you can generate gps files containing up to 1000 caches. If notyou still can send to gpx individually. Install Garmin Basecamp on your home computer, connect your gps to it and upload. I believe you can upload multiple files, so indivisuals wil work. Quote Link to comment
phandlo
Thank you ras_oscar for your reply. Basecamp is not available for Linux but there are open source alternatives. So far, I've not been able to upload GPX files but I will continue to experiment. Quote Link to comment
phandlo
OK, problem solved but I think that the phone might be more convenient. I need to walk, and fairly briskly, before the Garmin Etrax pointer moves. Quote Link to comment
