+Stargazer613
Hello Fellow Geocachers, I have a Garmin gpsmap64st that I have owned for a few years. I have only ever once or twice ever been successful at calibrating the compass. 9 times out of 10 it passes the first two of the three steps of calibration, but always fails the third step. I have tried googling this issue, but have not come up with too much success. Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue might be and how to resolve it. It still seems to work for the most part, but I do not understand why it always seems to fail the third step. Thanks Quote Link to comment
+JohnCNA
I have a 64s and 64st. They are both the same way; often failing on step 3. I think it's fussy about the speed it is rotated. I usually get it after 5 or 6 tries, varying the speed each time. Try going faster and slower. 1 Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
Here's a thread about Etrex 30 where the suggestion is to rotate it about 3 seconds per axis: 1 Quote Link to comment
+Stargazer613
Thank you for the response. I will give it a try to see if trying it 5 or 6 times works and go from there. I do try to do all three at the same rate but, obviously, the third step seems to be more sensitive to speed than the first two. I also try to do it away from power lines and trees if possible so as to have a clear view of the sky. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
