Android app not working without google ?

Hello everybody

 

I tried to use the geocaching app on my phone which is running a google-free android version. However it says that it cannot run without the play store services. Which is weird because even google maps works without the google play services. Is there any way to make it work ?

I suspect your only option may be to find a way to install Play Services. The Geocaching App relies on play services for map and location functionality, among other things. (Not sure how your google maps app is working without it - is it a modified version?)

 

We've previously investigated third-party options that could replace google play services, but we don't have any plans to migrate to them at this time

Ok well I already tried to install these services but it does not seem to work easily on my Android version. But I mean I chose not to run Google on my phone so I can't complain. My Google map si not modified,  it's the official version. I was also surprised that it worked. Anyway, thanks for your answer!
