Garmin Etrex 30x joysick button click intermittent

Hi there,

 

I recently bought a Garmin Etrex 30x and I find that occasionally clicking the joystick button doesn't register (clicking "in", clicking a direction is fine). I suspect I may just be not clicking it "straight down" and therefore it doesn't register, but it happens enough to be annoying is this a general problem with these models (10, 20, 20x etc), am I being ham-fisted or do I have a defective unit? I can return it but it's a bit of a pain and I won't bother if the replacement is likely to be the same. Thanks!
