chrisbrit
How can I get an image to be the background for my cache page? I do NOT want it to 'tile' as they do usually. No doubt it's a simple matter of the correct coding for the gif. Please help if you can. Quote Link to comment
the_Seppi
Unfortunately, it is not so easy. How an image is being displayed is defined by the website's stylesheet. By default, AFAIK, background images are repeated, unless the 'no-repeat' option is set in the stylesheet. The only hack I can now come up with is to add additional space to the image file, filling it with the default background color of the website (I think it's plain white, but better check that. Make the picture large enough to fit for your description. But this method has a downside to it: The larger images grow, the longer it takes to download the site. This may prove a problem especially on mobile devices, which often have limits in download speed or the amount of MiB's per month. Alternatively, put your description into the image and use the image as description itself. Make sure it stays legible, though. Both methods can be easily implemented using tools like MS Paint, GIMP or Photoshop. Hope I could help, the_Seppi PS, while GIF is being a widely used format, I usually recommend PNG, as it usually offers better compression, which is lossless, as opposed to GIF's. +niraD
I didn't find any documentation to confirm it, but I'm pretty sure any background image you specify is going to tile. Depending on the image format, you may be able to include a very large blank area surrounding the image without increasing the size of the image file much. But as more and more logs are posted to the listing, eventually the image will start tiling vertically no matter how big you make it. Quote Link to comment
+Mn-treker
Or maybe you could just place it in the middle of the cache page. Edited August 3, 2015 by Mn-treker Quote Link to comment
