+plushcat
I own 3 travel bugs and want to watch them. I can't find a way to get them on my watchlist. I did find a forum answer that said I would automaticly recieve an email anytime they were logged, but I never have. What am I missing? Suggestions? Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
I own 3 travel bugs and want to watch them. I can't find a way to get them on my watchlist. I did find a forum answer that said I would automaticly recieve an email anytime they were logged, but I never have. What am I missing? Suggestions? The forum answer you found was correct. You do not need to watch your owned trackables. You will receive emails whenever someone logs your trackables as "dropped", "retrieved" or "discovered". You will not receive an email if someone drags it all over the place for months, logging nothing but "visited" logs. If you haven't ever received emails about the trackables you own, and you should have by now, then you should check to make sure that you are able to receive emails from "noreply@geocaching.com". Your trackables have had action that should have resulted in you getting emails. B. Edited August 9, 2014 by Pup Patrol Quote Link to comment
+plushcat
Thanks for your prompt answer. Among the 3 travel bugs, actually I think they are geocoins if that makes any difference, I can see 10 placed or retrieveds. I never got an e-mail about any of them. (I think I once used to, but I am not sure. If so it wasn't in the last year or so.) I do regulary get things from no.reply@geocaching.com for things on my watchlist and a notification of your post here. I haven't a clue what to do next. Any other things you can think of? +Panther&Pine
Well I just looked, you own 3 geocoins. They haven't had a new log in a year or two, so that would be my first guess as to why you haven't gotten an email about them in a while. If you'd like I can post a note on one (or you can) to check if you're getting the emails. Quote Link to comment

Cheers, Plushcat It makes no difference whether they are travel bugs or geocoins. Actions taken on travellers precipitate the same emails. Unfortunately, it looks like 2 of them can be marked as "missing". Plushcat's FTF Prize (PROXY) http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=2073689 Last action was back in 2013. Check the logs on the cache page to see if anyone has noted that there are no trackables in the cache after the coin was dropped. Space Cacher Geocoin http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=3074968 Log of 01/04/2014, which was after that coin was dropped in the cache: Not even one trackable in the hotel/church!! What a disappointment. I left one here anyway. The last one doesn't look to have fared any better. It's "in the hands" of a cacher who doesn't seem to be caching any more. +plushcat
OK. I guess I just didn't do enough research. Thanks for doing it for me. Its pretty clear they have all gone missing. Two logged as not being in the caches where they still show in the inventory, and the third in the hands of a cacher who seems to have gone missing himself. Don't seem to have much luck with travel bugs. The 4 I have started lasted 21, 14, 9 and 3 months. Wonder what the average is. I have been watching some for many years. I guess we can consider this a closed topic. Thanks again, Plushcat Quote Link to comment
