+user13371 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5553 Updates & Downloads eTrex 20/30 (Webupdater) software version 3.70 as of March 25, 2014 Use Garmin Express to install this file. (9.29 MB) View system requirements Change History Changes made from version 3.60 to 3.70: Improved total ascent and total descent calculations Improved average ascent, average descent, and vertical speed data fields Quote
wmarek74 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) FW3.70 is great! Now Trip computer=Track, IMO it slightly underestimates total ascent/total descent heights, but not that much. BUG If you erase Trip computer only, and save the track, it looses its elevation statistics. So, it's better to erase both(trip computer and track) at once. Edited March 28, 2014 by wmarek74 Quote
BikinOn Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 As a matter of interest, I don't own an eTrex but know a few people who do, how stable are its firmware updates? The Oregon updates that have been released lately have generally been pretty poor, are the eTrex ones any better? Quote
wmarek74 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 The truth is that there is no 100% reliable eTrex 20/30 firmware yet. Each released version has certain bugs (some minor, some huge). We still have a hope for any better one firmware! Current FW 3.70 has problems in response of Trip computer in low speeds (fields: speed, time of the movement). Quote
BikinOn Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Seems that Garmin needs to significantly improve their real world QA procedures, I've not seen one 100% firmware release yet. Edited March 29, 2014 by BikinOn Quote
wmarek74 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 For example: look at the small, top lefthand side data field in this film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8euHfdZEJIE What speed do You see most of the time. Also look at bottom lefthand side data filed - it is "time of standstill" Weird, isn't it? It is all about Garmin :-( Quote
