+haggaeus
Not sure if this is a new bug or if it has been around for a while: I used to refer to waymarks using the http://coords.info/ + WM code URL, but today I found it stopped working: for example http://coords.info/WMHNP4 redirects to http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/wmhnp4 (the WM code is translated into lowercase) and this results in a "No waymark found" page. Keystone
The URL for the shortcut is coord.info, without the "s" at the end. Quote Link to comment
+Tante.Hossi
interesting: coord.info --> owner is Groundspeak coords.info --> owner is someone else They offer the same service. But with some small diferences: coord.info acceppts uppercase and lowercase letters --> everything is converted correctly. Works with WM***** and GC***** coords.info converts uppercase letters to lowercase letters if it is used with WM***** --> this does not work. But there's no conversion for GC***** Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
interesting: coord.info --> owner is Groundspeak coords.info --> owner is someone else They offer the same service. Wow, that sounds scary if not illegal. I'm glad they hadn't set up shop before I (finally) taught myself to stop trying to use "coords.info", since that always seemed like the more logical name to me. Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
Now I'm starting to really get worried. I looked around thinking there'd be a discussion of this upstart somewhere, but the only thing I found was a handful of places where people were using it to point to caches, presumably without realizing it wasn't the Groundspeak service. I really can't think of a legitimate reason someone would create such a redundant, look-alike service, so I have to conclude that this is an attempt to fool people into using a third party web site.
