+2 Old Fossils
We are newbies to Geocaching and just purchased a Garmin GPSMAP62S and looking for what most are using for their map sets. I already had a Garmin Zumo 660 for my Motorcycle and have City Navigator North America NT loaded on it. I don't think I can load this on my new gps because its been installed on the Zumo. Their are so many different ones, free, Topographic, Street, Aerial Maps, or none at all, that they all have me confused as to which would be the better. We are not going hiking up any long trails or up mountains. Any help much appreciated. Quote Link to comment
+JBnW
I've got a 62s, with City Nav, a couple of topos, and a lake map installed. I use City Nav almost exclusively, but then again I live in Kansas (don't need no stinking topos! ) If you're not going to get too far from the beaten path, City Nav or the OpenStreetMap equivalent should do fine, but sometimes a topo will show a country road better...and they're free. Hope this helps Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
You don't need to hike up mountains or on long trails for topo maps to be useful. Anytime you leave the pavement they are helpful. Quote Link to comment
