'Distance to End' gone from eXplorist GC

Hello....I've had my Magellan eXplorist GC since 11/12. For some reason, the 'Distance to End' display (upper left-hand corner of the map) is no longer showing, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it back on there. Also, when trying to navigate around, a screen which asks 'Cancel current route and start new one?' keeps popping up. I'll admit I'm not the most technologically savvy person, and I'm about to throw this thing in the creek.
