Guest Qtrade
If you have a sense of adventure you will have to do night time geocaching. As you pull up to the "stairmaster" in El Cajon, CA the setting is that of a scene in the Exorcist when the priest was at the bottom of some stairs with a broken neck. It is a creepy place, and only a cache in a cemetary would be more challenging. Go by yourself Quote Link to comment
Guest makaio
Wow - reminds me of when we used to visit the actual Exorcist stairway in Georgetown (D.C.) at 3 or 4 am after barhopping on M street. Creepy place when the moon is full and the streets are quiet (rare occasion in Georgetown). That would make a cool virtual cache... Quote Link to comment
Guest Team Wyle E
Cache hunting at night CAN BE SCARY!! This cache ( http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=8667 ) was bad enough for us. Read how others after me saw people in the bushes, maybe doing something illegal. Now THAT would be scary!!! ------------------ Larry Farquhar http://www.azjeeper.com [This message has been edited by Team Wyle E (edited 12 December 2001).] Quote Link to comment
Guest barondriver
I was in the Denver area and thot about this one before reading some of the comments..(yes I guess I'm abit chicken): Night Eye Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=9425 [This message has been edited by barondriver (edited 19 December 2001).] Quote Link to comment
Guest ASOinFL
I can only think of one thing to call GeoHunting at night.......Hardcore! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=11237 is the one I did. Got to the launch point just as it was getting dark. Apparently there was a path the cachelayer used.....but, being unaware of that, I started slogging through the boonies...and being in a marsh, it was a blast...pitch black, 10,000 banana spiders, brush thick enough to were a machete would have been nice (much less a bulldozer) and legions of icky things that felt a need to keep coming round to me. Had a stream to ford, then the marsh proper (thankfully water came up to just above knee level only). The day before we'd arrested a survivalist nutcase about two miles from the same cache area who still had a few attack/mad dogs roaming loose. Always an incentive to keep one on their toes. "Did you hear that? Was that a rabid dog....or just raccoon?" ------------------ ASOinFL Lo han arrestado alguna vez? Quote Link to comment
Guest LindaLu
There is at least one cache (and probably more) where you HAVE to go at night, or at least in the evening: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=2413 I haven't tried it yet, myself.... Quote Link to comment
Guest cottingham
I was going to recommend http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=4327 , but it's been archived with no explanation. Pity, too; I was looking forward to visiting it when I get to Oregon. In a couple of weeks, I'm planning on visiting the Blair Witch Cache < http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=2897 >; maybe I should go at night. D'ya think I should take a video camera? :-) [This message has been edited by cottingham (edited 29 December 2001).] Quote Link to comment
