STP & Brushbuster Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 For some reason our cat of 10 years has started spraying/urinating in my closet. It's the only place in the house she does this. The vet calls it a behavioural problem and suggest kitty counselling. Needless to say, my wife and I have spent alot fo time cleaning carpet and washing cloaths left on the floor. Last weekend we are out in geocaching about 3 miles from the car. It wasnt exactly backcountry but the area is closed to vehicles to protect mule deer winter range. It gets dark and we are hiking out an old road when my wife sees something cross the road. She asks me when Cougar's feed. Of course, they feed at night. Not ten seconds of walking later we smell fresh cat urine! We both looked at each other! Wow! We started to sing songs and looked over our shoulder the whole way out! Fortunatly the big cat was probably going after a little venison for dinner. Scott & Sally STP & Brushbuster Sisters, Oregon USA Quote
enfanta Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 Perhaps your cat is marking out his territory to keep it from the bobcat! X is for X, and X marks the spot, On the rug in the parlor, The sand in the lot, Where once you were standing, And now you are not. Quote
+Maverix Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 You're fortunate, its pretty rare to spot a cougar, although its a little uncomfortable I suppose to resemble dinner! There's been cougar sitings around here (nothern Ca) as well. This is a picture taken by Jessie at Alum Rock park (close to where I work). +Haicoole Posted February 5, 2003 Posted February 5, 2003 My first annual I'm not going to do Thanksgiving hike was to do the Annadel Challange. A magnificent guided tour thru a really cool park. At lunch we saw the biggest bob cat I have ever seen across the meadow, stalking some turkeys. Hey he's got his turkey dinner, I've got mine. Haicoole Quote
enfanta Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 make yourself big and puffy if menaced by a cougar. And *don't* wear eau de nepeta cataria! X is for X, and X marks the spot, On the rug in the parlor, The sand in the lot, Where once you were standing, And now you are not. Quote
