+IdaLabs
We're looking for an auto GPS to replace our TomTom. My husband has always used the TomTom to drive to the cache, and then takes it with him to walk to the cache using the coords screen and watching them as they move to find the cache. He'd like a new auto GPS that will still allow him to use the coords when he gets close to GZ, but that will have a pointer arrow to get him from the car to the general area of the cache. The Montana is out of our range. Anyone know of a GPS that has both? Quote Link to comment

You can still use it for driving while set to walking, it just messes with the time it will take you to get there. Quote Link to comment

It actually has a pointer arrow that you can use while walking? Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
Actually, he might find it more convenient to have a new handheld to work along with his car nav. It sounds like he'd have even more fun if he had a second device optimized for the hunt after his trusty car nav got him to the area. Quote Link to comment
+PeoriaBill
I like the Garmin NUVI2595LMT est $199.00. It will give you a great auto GPS with lifetime maps and traffic. It will get you to the neighborhood of the cache, then you just whip out your handheld GPS to make the find. Using a auto GPS, maybe with the exception of the 600 series, to actually pinpoint a cache can be frustrating. A car GPS and a handheld gps are purpose built differently with different characteristics. Hope this helps. Peoria Bill :>) Quote Link to comment
+IdaLabs
We have an eTrex Vista HCx and a Dakota, but he prefers the auto GPS with the larger screen. I'm sure it is frustrating for some people, but he's been doing it that way for 3 years and prefers it. So, we're just looking for a nice auto GPS that has a pointer arrow screen and also allows you to see the coords. Quote Link to comment
