Cache event with multiple caches

I'd like to create a cache event with multiple caches. Which form do I use? Sorry for the simple question but I'm trying to learn before I do it wrong. Thanks.

The event and all the caches to find would have to be submitted separately through the regular form for hides listed on the right side of http://www.geocaching.com/seek/

 

I took a look at your profile and it doesn't look like you found any caches yet. It is recommended that you find a couple of different caches in different terrain and of different difficulty, so you have an idea of what is possible, so the hides you make will be of high quality and enjoyable for the attendees. Also, creating an event is hard work and a lot needs to be done. I rarely see one person create an event, it's usually a collaboration between several local cachers. Reach out to some local cachers and do it together.

 

(Don't forget to read the rules and to ask permission for any caches and the event itself, because that is the easiest way to get caches rejected).

It seems odd that your first interest in geocaching is in hosting an event. If I am misunderstanding something, I apologize. Folks just getting into the game certainly can host an event to meet the local cachers. It's just not an everyday occurrence as far as my experience.

 

Most events are "meet & greet" types held in restaurants, pubs, parks, etc. They aren't complicated affairs, and can certainly be organized by one person. That's exactly the type of event that I'm used to.

 

Reading the Guidelines before going any further is highly recommended.

From what I'm getting from your post, you should be aware of this guideline:

 

An event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together geocachers for an organized geocache search. Such group hunts are best organized using a discussion forum or an email distribution list.

 

The event cache is the same as any other cache: it needs to be submitted for review before it can be published.

 

So, the event cache and each permanent cache you want to place are created using the same form.

While I don't think I have ever heard of someone holding an event as their first caching effort, I think it could be a very good way to start!

A simple 'meet & greet' has little chance of going wrong if the location is carefully selected.

The owner would have lots of opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the local scene and perhaps find some new friends to go caching with.

 

I say go for the event, but leave out the 'extra' caches until later...maybe for your second event.
