+Bean & Sprout
I just bought this for my son for xmas. It was super cheap on Amazon. My link I assumed I would be able to use the cable for my Etrex vista HCx on it but it isn't compatible. So I now need to order a cable as well. Can anyone advise which is the one I need. Amazon list 2 as frequently bought with this gps, but I don't want to get something that isn't right and it isn't clear whicg is the correct one... Thanks Edited December 7, 2011 by Bean & Sprout Quote Link to comment
+eusty
Couldn't see any on Amazon (could you give us links), but there are stacks on ebay. Make sure you get a USB cable, rather than the serial one, and also one based on the prolific chipset Quote Link to comment
+JabbaTHutt
From what I can tell it needs the old etrex cable, the serial one, should be able to find one on epay, if not there is the PFrac I think it is connectors and you can make up your own cable., your hcx most likely uses the USB cable. This one needs a computer with a serial port to use it. Serial cable for serial port computer This one should alow you to plug it into a USB port as it seems to have a USB to SERIAL convertor built into it. USB to serial built in to alow it to work on USB port The first 2 have the PFranc type connector on them, this one has the garmin type on it and is the same as the second one I posted above. +Bean & Sprout
Thanks both for your replies. Having found it difficult to work out which cable is suitable, and prices ranging up to £30+ !! I've decided to return the GPS and get one that comes with a cable already. At least that way I'll know it's compatible. Thanks for your replies Quote Link to comment
