Question about an owned cache

I had a cache when we lived in NJ. Moved to Texas about 2-3 years ago and totally forgot about the cache.

 

How do I give up ownership?...or do I just disable and forget about it?

Put a note on the cache page, something along the line of "I'm putting this cache up for adoption, after you find it, if you liked it, contact me and we can work it out".

 

After that both of you (you first) go to http://www.geocaching.com/adopt

You could try to find someone local to adopt it out to:

Or you could archive it, and go retrieve it, or maybe find a kind soul to retrieve it for you. You don't want to leave geotrash, do you?

 

I don't think disabling it and forgetting about it is a good option. If nothing else, leaving it as "disabled" will block the location from someone else placing a cache there. Archiving it will open the location for someone else, though.

Thing is, I'm already in Texas and it is still in NJ. Like I mentioned, I totally forgot about it.
