+lekyfsirk
Hi all, I just bought a Garmin Oregon 300 and when I turn it on it has no maps whatsoever (It seems like buying a book and having to pay extra for the words!!!!) Anyway, I am brand new to mapping technology but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good website(s) where I could learn about maps and how to make your own. What about software for transferring maps to the Oregon? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kris Quote Link to comment
snowfleurys
The unit should have a very basic world map. If you have a PC, Garmin's MapSoruce and/or Basecamp are used to transfer map data to the GPSr. There are free maps available at gpsfiledepot.com. That site also has tutorials on installing mapsets to the computer, selecting and transfering data to the GPSr, and making you own maps. Quote Link to comment
+DazeDnFamily
You can also Google "free routable maps for Garmin GPS". OpenStreetMap.org has an amazing amount of coverage, and it's all free to use. You download the file, unzip it, and copy it to your GPSr. Directions are included on the site. Later! Quote Link to comment
