+mahgnillig
Hi all I recently moved to Carson City from Las Vegas and have been enjoying getting out into the wilderness whatever way I can. The thought occurred to me that with several feet of snow on top, I'd have a tough job finding a lot of the caches up in the mountains until the thaw. I tried doing a cache search for caches that were marked as "winter", "snowshoe" or "xc ski", but came up with none in a 50 mile radius! I'm sure there must be winter caches out there... caches that are maybe perched a few feet up in a tree so that showshoers don't have to shovel snow to get at them. Does anyone know how I'd be able to search for these? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+thepinz
I have a couple of hides up in Truckee that are accessible during the winter. There is this one in old downtown (as long as there wasn't just a giant dump of fresh snow, this will be accessible as it's right next to the road.) http://coord.info/GC1N6N8 And then this one in the newer downtown. Again, as long as there wasn't a giant dump of snow this should be easily accessible. It is sheltered. http://coord.info/GC1N6M6 I also recommend these two in the Tahoe City area, both should be accessible during the winter. http://coord.info/GC12FKF (this one is is a must grab!) http://coord.info/GC1KJCK We have a few more hides in the Truckee area, but they are definitely summer/fall time caches. There's been so much snowfall this year it seems like just about every cache has been buried! Good luck, and happy caching! -Lindsay Quote Link to comment
