+D'cacher
Recently grabbed an Oregon 450. Followed the frequent recommendation of, gpsfiledepot. I have a free topo of my area, on a 4 gig sdhc card. Can't figure out how to make the map data from the sd card come up on the map display. Looked in...setup/maps/map info, select maps. Only show the pre-loaded base map. Any and all help is much appreciated, by this mapping and paperless rookie. Quote Link to comment
savant9
How did you put the map on the SD card? Is it in .img format and in the /Garmin/ directory? Quote Link to comment
+D'cacher
It shows in the sd card as a folder named M77_or. Open it up and all data is in .img format Quote Link to comment
savant9
For the gps to see it, the .img file needs to be in the garmin folder, not in a subfolder. Quote Link to comment
snowfleurys
In a PC environment, you need to have MapSource or BaseCamp installed on your computer. You then run the .exe file you downloaded from gpsfiledepot; this will make the necessary changes to the computer's registery so MS?BC can 'see' the mapset. Then in MS/BC select some or all of the quads/tiles and send them to the GPSr, or micro memory card in a card reader. See the tutorial: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tutorials/how-...s-in-mapsource/ Quote Link to comment
+D'cacher
Thank you both for the help, and the link. I'll try running it in mapsource. Quote Link to comment
+D'cacher
That did the trick, thanks for the instructions. Topo now loaded on the Oregon 450. Quote Link to comment
