+CrazyCate
Hi, I'm fairly new to this. I really like it though. I'm a little frustrated. I listened to a friend of mine who has been doing this for a much longer time, and started deleting the favorites in my gps. Now, by deleting them, my treasure chest icon is no longer on my map. I can't drive down the road and have a box come up so I know there is a cache nearby. Any ideas as to how get them back on my map. I have the caches in my POIs but the favorites I deleted, which was a 12 mile radius from my house, do not show up now. I can still do it through the custom POI, but not just by driving and seeing one is coming up. I guess I've rambled enough. Thanks for any help you can give. I use the Garmin 1300. +Lovejoy and Tinker
Not familiar with Garmin, but on tomtom units there is a menu option to "warn when near POI". From there you set up each POI type and the type of warning and distance for each. Can you find a similar menu option on the garmin? Quote Link to comment
+WaylessWood
I don't own a Nuvi 1300, but on my 765, Custom POI only show on the map at a zoom level of 200', which is not useful for driving. Favorites show when zoomed further out. You are getting the proximity alert from Custom POI that are still on the 1300. If you reload the Favorites the way you initially did, then you will see them on the map again. Quote Link to comment
+Lovejoy and Tinker
Ah, thanks WaylessWood, that means my advice was spurious. Sorry about that. On the tomtom the custom POIs can throw up a warning at any distance as they are treated the same as any other POIs such as speed cameras etc. Quote Link to comment
+CrazyCate
If I tell you that I don't know how I loaded the favorites initially, would you believe me :-) I'm fairly new to using this, and don't really know what I'm doing. +Team Taran
What software are you using to load your POIs? I believe you can load them as regular waypoints by using send to GPS or through Mapsource and they will show up as favorites. I also seem to remember if you save a poi when you are looking at it, it is stored in favorites. Team Taran Quote Link to comment
