+CrazyCate
Hi! I have finally figured out how to get the caches onto my Garmin 1300, but cannot figure out how to have them go onto it by name instead of number and have the hints or narrative show up. I have become a premium member thinking that was the answer, but it's not. It's just me not knowing what to do. Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
How are you loading the caches to the GPS unit? That unit does not have the ability to display all of the cache data natively. You will need to manipulate the data on your computer before sending it to that unit in order to get some of the information to display. Here's one method. http://geocaching.totaltechworld.com/ http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=8364 You will not be able to get ALL the cache data to display on that GPS unit. +CrazyCate
I have GSAK and a macro downloaded, but only the cache sites are doing onto my GPS not the other info to make it so I can go paperless. I still have to copy off the pages from the computer and carry them along so I can know what the hints are and what the logs say. I know there is a way to get that info onto my GPS, but I don't know what it is. I tried the link you provided, but it doesn't list my GPS the Garmin Nuvi 1300. Thanks for any help you can give. Motorcycle_Mama
That process will work on your nuvi even though the model number isn't listed. You need to follow all the steps. You will have to run the GSAK macro to export the data. Then you will need to use Garmin's POI Loader to load the data to your GPS unit as Custom POIs. This will allow the unit to display SOME of the cache page data. And again, you will not be able to get ALL the cache data to display on that GPS unit. It does not natively support Paperless Caching. I'm not familiar with your 1300, but with my 76CSx and my 855 I use EasyGPS. Once it has found the gps, go to the drop down menu at the top and click edit, preferences, then highlight the gps in the list and click the geocaching button. You can then set it to show the name instead of the GC number, have it show the hint, and set the icon for caches found and unfound. Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
That process won't work on the nuvi 1300. Quote Link to comment
