geojibby
Anyone using the new 62 series with OS X? My old 60Cx still has issues when mounted as a volume (in USB mass storage mode) if ejected without deleting the hidden files Finder leaves on the data card. Has anyone experienced such weird behavior on the new 62 series? The most up to date firmware on the 60Cx has not resolved this issue - just wondering about the new 62 lineup. Thanks! +Highland Horde
I'm testing the 62s right now. what kind of issues? what did you do? I can try to reproduce it and let you know. Quote Link to comment
geojibby
The issue with my 60Cx is that after you mount the 2GB memory card (either in the GPS in mass storage mode or in a card reader) in OS X, Spotlight indexes the card and puts hidden files on it that Garmin's Software can't handle. The GPS itself crashes and will not acquire satellites if it boots up at all. If I use the Terminal to delete the hidden files just before I unmount the card, then it works perfectly. My query is if Garmin fixed this stupid problem in the 62 series. Quote Link to comment
Highland Horde
yup. no problems of the like with the 62s... I've got an 8g card in right now. Quote Link to comment
geojibby
And you've mounted the card in OS X? That's good news! Quote Link to comment
Highland Horde
yup. i've got a macbook and use the sd card to hold my maps and pq's because I am not positive I am sticking with the 62s yet. I just tried the oregon 550 but the 62 seems to be more along the lines of what I am looking for. Quote Link to comment
Hoshmn
Been using the 62s w/ Snow Leopard now since launch without issues. 4GB card installed. Quote Link to comment
geojibby
That's good to hear. I could never figure out why Garmin didn't fix this before. I emailed tech support, explaining the problem and including the fix and they told me I had a defective unit. Makes no sense. Quote Link to comment
