+The Posse Posted May 17, 2002 Share Posted May 17, 2002 We went out to find the 4 benchmarks closest to us---all within a couple of miles of each other in Sweet Home. We found that the coordinates took us about 2 blocks out of the way. Also, since the markers were placed, about 60 years ago(!), the city has "grown up". Buildings that were there no longer exist or cover the spot where the marker was origionally. In the case of one of the b'marks, the highway was moved, along with the telephone lines referred to in the description of the location. So, we weren't able to find any of the ones in the city of Sweet Home. Quote Link to comment
