+dfx
i guess he's talking about the good old unix "fortune" program: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortune_%28Unix%29 Quote Link to comment
knowschad
i guess he's talking about the good old unix "fortune" program: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortune_%28Unix%29 If that's true, I'm guessing this is what he's looking for: One of the included fortunes, from the "goedel" collection of fortunes about fortune itself, sums up the purpose of the program: Has anyone realized that the purpose of the fortune cookie program is to defuse project tensions? When did you ever see a cheerful cookie, a non-cynical, or even an informative cookie? Perhaps inadvertently, we have a channel for our aggressions. This still begs the question of whether the cookie releases the pressure or only serves to blunt the warning signs. Long live the revolution! Have a nice day. Quote Link to comment
+not tom
There was Puzzle Cache in SoCal until about a year ago. The puzzle was at the posted coords. You took a fortune from the cache and logged it with your find. I guess that will not work now because ALR are not permitted. If you eat at a lot of Chinese resturants, got to do something with all that fortune! Edited March 11, 2010 by not tom Quote Link to comment

If you eat at a lot of Chinese resturants, got to do something with all that fortune! There still is, and cachers are still having fun with it (except for the cut-and-paste "nice day for a hike" people*). There are other caches like this around the planet: here's one example, which has no ALR. *okay, they're probably having fun too, bless 'em. Quote Link to comment
