+estoril Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) Hi, I'm just getting started with Geocaching and have a Garmin GPS and a number of local caches loaded up and available in my GPS, I have found 1 cache so far (hooray!) but I am not sure if there is a way to get my find registered with my account automatically (upload a a file?)..... Is this possible or do I need to go to each one individually and register the find? Thanks, Darren. Edited March 5, 2010 by estoril Quote
+burtsbodgers Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Hi and welcome along to the obsession Well done on your first find Before we know if you can automatically upload your find we need to know which model of GPSr you have? The garmin Colorado, Oregon and i believe the Dekota can up load via "field notes". Plug your GPSr in to the PC and via the GC website on your homepage select "Access Your Field Notes" from the RHS of the page. This should bring up a selection page, select the garmin section and And click the "here" link which should open a Page with instructions for garmin users. Follow these and your away. If you have not got one of these GPSr's then you have to select the cache page and use the box in the top RH corner and log your visit that way. Hope this makes sense and good luck Quote

+Chrysalides Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 I don't see any caches logged by you, so I can't estimate your home area. Just be aware that due to a bug on Groundspeak's implementation of Field Notes, some of the automatically inserted dates will be incorrect. The GMT (UTC) date will be used instead of your local date. So any finds made after 4 pm in Pacific time zone will be logged as the next day. You need to correct this yourself. To make matters just a little more confusing, the displayed date / time of find in the field notes summary page shows the correct local time (adjusted for your profile's time zone). Quote
