Where the heck is it?

These forums confound me.

So I wanted to find the thread someone started about mistakes and typos in datasheets, because I found a doozy. But going here to the forum, I only get a page of topics, and it's not on this page. I don't see page numbers to switch to the next page anywhere.

Maybe I'm getting old and blind now? If a moderator can attach this to that post, it'd be swell.

So I came across a fun sheet while working. I do believe that his is the MOST 'scaled' a SCALED mark can be:

 DL5509 *CURRENT SURVEY CONTROL
DL5509 ___________________________________________________________________
DL5509* - ( ) ( ) SCALED
DL5509* NAVD 88 - 39.143 (meters) 128.42 (feet) ADJUSTED
DL5509 ___________________________________________________________________
DL5509
DL5509 VERT ORDER - FIRST CLASS II

Not even is there no location, there's no datum! Luckily, the description is written VERY well, so if anyone down near Orlando wants to get the coordinates, this sheet could use a little updating. :(

Thanks!!

How'd you find that? I still don't see any page turners at the bottom of the forum. Hmph. Well, I posted into that, so some moderator can delete this.

Been one of those days.

This is a strange one. I've seen lots of odd things in the database, but this is a new one. I've reported it to the NGS database team and they will correct it shortly. There is a scaled position that shows up when you do a DB retrival -- N275156/W0813529

Hey Dave - there's another one like it - DL5511.

One thing about writing a program to go through this stuff - it sees everything you feed into it, and if the programmer (me) doesn't expect it, well.. it all breaks. :(

Your viewing settings are in the lower-right corner of the main forum page. (E.g., http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=10 for the benchmark forum.) One of the options is how many days' worth of discussions to show. The default is 30 days, so if there have been no postings in a specific thread for more than 30 days, it won't show up on your main page. All you have to do is set it to a longer time period, and you will have access to multiple pages of threads.

Sometimes, you can also use the search function to find specific threads (or postings within a thread; your choice). I just verified that that approach would have worked for the thread you wanted, because "datasheet" and "typos" are acceptable search terms. Don't get me started on the wisdom of BBS software that requires search terms to be at least five characters being used for forums where "GPS" and "NGS" are everyday terms. There's no way I can search the Groundspeak forums for Mac software, for example. Even putting the phrase "Mac OS" in quotes doesn't help; the software still treats them as two under-the-limit words. :):D

Hey Patty - thanks! :) Someone pointed the '30 day' thing out to me, and I did a face-palm. I'm disappointed that it doesn't remember my settings, but o-well. I tried the search thing too, but I put in 'typo', which the forums didn't like. I'm not sure why I didn't try 'datasheet' - maybe because I figured every post would come back or something. Anyways, noiw I know what I'm looking for. I can start acting smart again. :D

foxtrot_xray - that's for letting me know about DL5509, I've forwarded that info along. It appears that there may have been some kind of a strange loading bug when this particular project was loaded into the DB. The scaled values show up on the NGS datasheet retrival page, but not on the datasheet itself. Hopefully we can clear this up real soon. Thanks again.
