just got new computer it runs windows7 when i try to load my topo 3d mapsend it says it cant install drivers

error code -2. any body have any ideas

thanks in advance THANKS TERMITE22

Not sure if you're speaking of a different product but Garmin Mapsource does not require usb drivers under Win 7, and in fact if you do manage to install them, they might cause problems. If you're writing about another program, it might still be the same issue...

That might be the problem - there's a way of running the install in Win2K or XP mode.

Right click on the Mapsend install file and either select "Troubleshoot compatibility" or go to the Properties/Compatibility tab and run the install in Win XP mode.

SORRY FOR THE DELAY. I used the means you suggested this morning on another software that would not open, it worked great. this gives the error-2. error and stops. it does not offer the install file you suggested

therefore i cant use this approach. i tried it twice there is nothing to right click on any other suggestions will be appreciated TERMITE22

Try this:

1. Put the install CD 1 in your CD drive.

2. Click "Open Folder to View Files" from the auto start menu or open Windows Explorer.

3. Find Setup.exe in the main directory of the CD.

4. Right click on it and then left click on "Properties".

5. Click on the "Compatibility" tab.

6. Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box.

7. Select Windows XP from the pulldown menu below the box.

8. Click "OK".

9. Go back to the Setup.exe file and double-click on it.

The program should now install.

I came across this forum and topic after searching online for help with installing the MapSend Topo 3D onto my Windows 7 machine. I have used this software for years on my old laptop (windows XP). Anyway, I was able to finally install this after going into the properties, and checking the box to run as administrator.
