I found the answer to my question on a much earlier post,...(copied below) "Please do a master reset on your unit. Doing a master reset will delete all user data, but it will also delete any corrupt system data which may be causing the issue. Be sure to back up all user data, if possible, before continuing. To do the master reset, with the unit off, press and hold 'page' + 'enter' + 'power' at the same time for a few seconds. You'll be asked if you're sure you want to delete all user data. Select yes. Now, with the unit off, press and hold 'page' + 'enter' + 'find' + 'power' at the same time for at least five seconds. It's the second step that actually got mine going and I think this is what people are not including" Quote Link to comment
+Highland Horde Posted January 10, 2010 Share Posted January 10, 2010 I just called garmin and walked me through the steps to fix the problem. I lost the geocaches and waypoints loaded but didnt need to reload the maps...it took maybe 5-7 mins on the phone. Quote Link to comment

The only trouble I've had with my Venture HC is when it starts up it seems only every other row of the display is working making it appear washed out. I just turn it off and back on and it's fine.
