Digital_Dan
I just bought a Delorme PN-40 and was trying to load some Maps. My drive will not recognize any of the Discs. (Region or TOPO) It does not appear to be the disc drive as it will recognize other discs. When I try to start it manually, I get an error saying load a disc in the drive. Anyone face this issue before? Quote Link to comment
Night Stalker
I have seen this before when a disc was badly scratched, but it sounds like you have new discs so don't know what would be the problem. If you know someone with a computer try the discs on the other computer to see if you have the same issues. Quote Link to comment
Digital_Dan
I just tried the discs in another computer and they work just fine. Hmmmm, must be some subtle issue with my Disc Drive for these particular discs. Thanks!! Quote Link to comment
Pax42
I've seen a couple instances where PN buyers have had one defective disc out of all those that come in the box but I've not heard of any one having a problem with every disc. Quote Link to comment

Team CowboyPapa
I just tried the discs in another computer and they work just fine. Hmmmm, must be some subtle issue with my Disc Drive for these particular discs. Thanks!! Yes, these are DL, Double Layer, discs. As such, older drives cannot read them. I have that issue also. My 7 year old DVD-ROM drive will read single layer DVDs. However, it will not read the current DeLorme DVDs. Not to worry for me, though, I also have a 5 year old DVD+RW drive that will read them. If one PC can read them, it is not likely that there is an inherent problem with the DVDs. Therefore, I'm assuming that as one PC can read them while one cannot, your problem is that your PC has an older, Single Layer read only, drive. If you wish, post back with the Make and Model of your optical drive and possibly we can determine that. Edited December 25, 2009 by Team CowboyPapa Quote Link to comment
TotemLake
If your drive is a DVD drive, try copying the disc to a folder on the hard drive. I had to do that with mine once and run it from there. Quote Link to comment
embra
Another alternative if you've got one computer that can read them and another that doesn't: copy the contents onto a jump drive and install from that. I've done it before on a laptop lacking a DVD drive. Quote Link to comment
