Downloading waypoints to eTrex H

I have the garmin etrex H.

Purchased the usb cable off ebay.

How do I save waypoints right to the gps?

 

When I connect the GPS to the PC, do I turn the GPS on?

When I do, it says searching for satelite forever!

 

PLEASE I need a step-by-step how-to for downloading waypoints. Going camping this weekend and prepared to search for 50 GC's.

 

I know how to enter manually (THANKS Y'ALL) but that takes FOREVER!

Step 1

Log into Geocaching.com

Step 2

Plug USB lead into computer and switch on unit, dont worry about the satelites.

Step 3

Select the cache you want and click the Send To GPS tab

this will bring up a popup box which will find your GPS (if it doesnt then you have another issue)

Step 4

Click Write

this will send the waypoints to your GPS

Step 5

Disconnect your GPS

switch the unit back on and go to the "find" screen select "Geocaches" these will be listed by GC number select the one you require and follow the Arrow

 

If your pc cannot find the GPS make sure you have set the interface to PC

this can be done via the setup spanner.

Thanks - I'll try this. My laptop got stolen on Friday so Im hoping I dont need to download anything to the "borrowed" one.

 

Not sure what you mean by interface and PC?? hopefully I wont have any problems.

OK NEED HELP. The gps is conected. Ran the garmin communicator plug in and it found it. But when I click on SAVE TO GPS the window opens and says it cant write.

I still cant this stupid cable to work even though I have downloaded the garmin communicator plug in several times. Getting frustrated.

 

Going camping and there are over 50 caches in the park where we're going. Sure dont want to manual these.
