Norway: a GC paradise!

Recommended Posts

Hi all and particularly those who hide chaches in Nowray!

I just came back from a month-long trip in southern Norway with my wife and we - among other things - really enjoyed some geocaching in the area. The aspect that I want to bring to others' attention here is the amazing non-visitedness of many cachces scattered around the vast area of the country.

In my country, to get an FTF, or even to be in first ten, you have to be a Premium, have SMS alerts and be ready to go even in the middle of the night. In Norway, there are tons of cachces that exist for several weeks, are not far from the round, usually in a wondrefull natural setting and yet they have been visited only once or twice!

I found it thrilling to hunt for a container which has been only seen by so few people before, with no "geo-highways" made of footprints of fellow geocachers, in totally intact and wild areas. And even after several "TTF's" we managed to make our very first FTF, on a cache that was several days old (and moreover has shonwn us some fantastic copper mines).

It seems that just now there is a huge explosion of geocaching in norwegian countryside. There already had been crowds of cachces near big cities, but if you list cachces in Fjordane, you see that most of them are pretty recent. Considering how cool this land is anyway, this is a true paradise for any geocacher.
