I don't know why but I have never checked out geocacher-u.com before. I mean I have come across the site but haven't really looked to see the cool stuff it has.

I love the folding zine emergency log you can download, and the best is the rear view mirror hang tag. I can't wait to use it.

Any one know any other sites that are really good for resources?

I love that site too- don't know why it was so hard to find- the evil googlites strike again

The answer to your question is you bet there are some other great internet geocaching resources available. My personal favorite is the GeoSnippets video series. These are video tutorials that are produced by a geocacher down in North Carolina who goes by the screen name HeadHardHat and they are FREE so you can't beat the price. You don't even have to register so there's no worry that you'll end up on a mailing list for the rest of your life. The videos average around 9 to 11 minutes in length so they are long enough to be educational, but not so long that they'll put you to sleep. HeadHardHat is a natural when it comes to being a good instructor. His videos are not only educational, but are also fun to watch so they should be a must see for all new cachers and those of us with limited experience! To view them CLICK HERE!

Another great resource would be the GeoLex which was compiled by Prime Suspect who's a Charter member that's been around for a long time and knows his stuff. Yes, gc.com has an official vocabulary listing, but this Lexicon of Geocaching has a larger vocabulary and can answer almost all newer users questions on geocaching vocabulary. To see it CLICK HERE!

The last resource I'll share is right here in the Groundspeak Forums. There was a topic a while back that discussed the lost art of writing a good cache log and it's something that all cachers should read and decide if there is anything they can learn from it. I know for me it was very informative and it let me see cache logs that I write from the cache owners perspective. To view that particular topic CLICK HERE!

Well I just noticed there's yet another resource that really deserves to be on the list of recommended resources. That resource is The Online Geocacher ezine. It's 100% free so again you can't beat the price! It's an ezine where geocachers write in and share their experiences while geocaching. For good reading just CLICK HERE!

Welcome to the game and have fun!!!! :D

I have been to it before, but I think I wasn't looking for the sort of stuff geocacher-u had to offer. I think I was looking for the perfect thing to put on some muggle cards I was ordering. I went to a business card site and came up with my own version of muggle card. So I was searching around for ideas on how to word it the best.

One of my searches brought me to the printable brochure, which is also very cool and handy to have with you. So after that I poked around a bit more and thought to my self, "Why didn't I check this site out before?".

and thanx Michigan Cacheman for the links I am going to check them out now.

What are muggle cards?

I have access to a "credit card" printing press and was thinking what it could be used for. I also have a few thousand blank cards that I can print on.

Muggle cards are something to hand to a non-cacher when they are asking questions about what you are doing. Basically just a business with a description of geocaching on it.

One thread on the subject.

Oh, COOL! That is exactly what I was thinking it was and exactly what I was thinking of making. It would take a short time for me to get 500 or more of them done. I was thinking of placing them as SWAG.

Now for the wording......

The wording was exactly what I was looking for when I was searching. For the front I just took the definition right off the getting started pages because that is the exact definition. I also used the offical logo as well. On the back I went into a little more detail in my own words on the back.

Here is a pic of it.

Feel free to use the wording if you like.

I ordered 250 of them from vistaprints.com for less then $20. You can get them free for the price of shipping but then you won't have a back side. I can't see my self using 250 of them up so I am going to be placing some in caches as swag for other cachers to find and use.

I made the mistake of asking GS if I could use the logo. I even sent them artwork of what I had planned to use it for and they told me I would have to make a sample and send it to them before I would be given permission IF I were going to get permission.

I gave up.

All it was going to be is a button that says "Proud geocacher"

The TOU for the logo says non commercial items of 25 units or under will not need explicit permission. Were you planning on having a large batch of the pins made?

Well, not "having them made". I own a button making machine. And yes, it was going to be my signature SWAG item. Not now though.

I don't think its an issue if you are not planning on making money off it. I think the worry would be some one making a ton of cards or merchandise with the geocaching logo on it and then trying to make a dime off it.

I am just trying to make something that I can hand to a muggle to explain what it is I am doing, while at the same time introducing some one else to geocaching. I would be giving them away for free.

That's my feeling, and I don't think Groundspeak is anything like the RIAA (i.e. litigation happy) but I cannot recommend anyone to go ahead and violate the TOU (especially not in a Groundspeak forum).

I think a personal button as a sigitem is nice. You could alter the design somewhat every 25 buttons, or just use the public domain logo knowschad linked to and avoid the headache.

I don't think it will be an issue, but in talking about it, I felt I should at least let them know about them and ask permission to use them, So I emailed them and copied them the picture.

Hopefully they will be okay with me using them. I would have hated to waste the money.

Worst case scenario I will just have to make new ones with the public domain logo. The reason I used the logo from the site was because I wanted it to be familiar to a muggle when they went to the geocaching website.

I made 250, but that was the smallest order I could purchase. I emailed ground speak and still have not heard anything back. I am going to use them. If anything does come up, I will just carry 50 at a time LoL.
