+Colonial Cats Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Please delete your log right away since it reveals cache information met only for those who have found it. You should repost using fake coordinates to ask your question. Please do not take this the wrong way. All newby questions are welcome and encouraged. However, what happens at a cache should stay with the cache. The same goes for asking for specific help on puzzle caches. Welcome to the sport and hope to hear from you on these forums. Quote

Your description of the numbers you found are confusing to me. Generally this site uses numbers in this format (copied from a Mississippi Traditional cache you recently found): N 33° 26.573 ' W 088° 49.941 ' I made the numbers a lighter color and added the Red, Bold minute marks ( ' ) where they should be. If the numbers you found don't look like that we would need more information to answer your question. Provide a link to the cache. Send me the actual numbers. I won't be in Mississippi any time soon. No danger that I will ever log that cache. Edited July 19, 2009 by Cardinal Red Quote
+Colonial Cats Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 No problem. Does the cache page tell you what to do what the numbers? Which cache is this? The waypoint code on the cache page (starts with GC) would tell us which cache you are asking about. My best guess is that the first 3 numbers gives the direction of the cache in compass degrees. Find North on the compass to determine the direction of the cache. For example, 090º would be due east or 270º would be due west. The ' sign ususally means feet. So the last 3 numbers may be the distance in the previously determined direction. For example, 270º 255' would mean that the cache is 255 feet due west from the first stage. Hope this helps. If you need a compass, you can pick one up cheap from Wal-Mart in the Sporting Goods section. Quote

Why didn't I realize they were describing a Waypoint Projection for an offset multi. Normally when no informarion is specified, I would expect these to be referenced to True North instead of Compass North. However, in Mississippi the difference is just slightly more than one degree. Probably the declination can just be ignored in this case. Quote
+Bear and Ragged Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Worth reading previous logs. "is the inabilty to enter feet into a projected waypoint." and "first time to do a projection kind.." Having said that.. Think it would make me think for a minute or four, having found that clue 'on site'! Quote
