+azmanxman
I'm new to this whole thing, but getting the hang of it fast (we hit seven caches in the last week and the whole family is addicted). So far I'm loving everything about my Garmin Colorado 300 (with free 24K topo maps from gpsfiledepot), but I'm a little confused by one aspect of its interface with Geocaching.com. Downloading cache info directly to the Colorado is no problem, but once we've 'found' a cache I expected it to upload that status and any notes I've added back to the site once I sync the unit. It's seems cumbersome to have to manually enter this info. onto the site, especially since I can't always remember the correct date we located the cache. Searching around on the Colorado, I can't seem to even find that info. any more. They are there listed as 'found' caches, but if I 'show found' it doesn't show any updated information. I must be missing something ....................... right? Thanks already for any help! Craig Tucson AZ Quote Link to comment
+g-o-cashers
As you mark caches Found they are recorded on the unit as "Fieldnotes" which is a fancy word for a text file that can be uploaded to geocaching.com here: http://www.geocaching.com/my/uploadfieldnotes.aspx . The instructions on this page are pretty good and will walk you through the process of uploading the data and logging your finds. It sounds like you are downloading geocaches to your Colorado one at a time? If so you'll periodically have to remove all of the gpx files from \Garmin\GPX when you connect your CO. Or if you really get into this I would suggest learning how to use pocket queries, a much easier and faster way to manage more caches and pocket queries are fully supported by the Colorado. http://www.markwell.us/pq.htm More details here: http://garmincolorado.wikispaces.com/Geocaching Quote Link to comment
