+gulo
Hello I am working on a custom garmin map. It includes road information (using TIGER data) and my own trail tracks. The problem is that in areas where my trail follows a road Mapsource draws the road over my trail. I would like the trail to be on top. I am already using a custom TYP for my trails and I wonder if there is a way to increase my trail tracks draw priority ? thanks Quote Link to comment

Use two seperate maps...Tiger data and a seperate map for trails. If the Tiger data map is not transparent and the trail map is transparent the trail map will draw over the Tiger map. If both Tiger and trail map are transparent then use DrawPriority= to force trail map to draw last. DrawPriority is covered in the cGPSMapper manual. Quote Link to comment
eaparks
Something else that I like to do. Is to make the most major trail or most signifcant trail in the custom map always Major Hwy 0x01 and put it in all zoom levels (except the last one - of course it has to be empty). What this allows is for this trail to be visible at all zoom levels on your GPS. This makes it a lot easier to locate your custom map when it may be half way across the country from where you are located and you want to view it. Sometimes I will even put all objects in all levels, this greatly helps at times in being able to see where your present location is in relation to an entire trail system (assuming the map doesn't cover hundreds of miles). Very hard to locate your custom map on the GPS screen when nothing in it appears until you are zoomed in a lot. All of my custom maps are in very remote areas so screen clutter is never a problem. Thanks I went with the first option and changed my trails to Major Highway type which automatically puts them on top. But since I also have one interstate on my map I changed that one to 0x03 (not used by anything else on my map) and created custom TYP to make 0x01 a nice red line for my trails and 0x03 thick orange line just like the original major highway. Yeah my custom trails are set to show on all zoom levels. Most of the other custom objects (like trail heads, waterfalls, overlooks,etc..) only show up when you zoom much closer so they don't clutter the map. Quote Link to comment
