+azvlr
I am trying to create a puzzle cache, and I need for folks to be able to print out an exact copy of a document I created on Word. The cache page itself renders just fine when I view it on the website, and when I click on the link in my HTML editor, it takes me the document. But if I click on the link from the page itself, I get a 404 error. I tried changing it to a PDF file, which would also suit my needs. That didn't work either. I found a cache similar to mine and tried to copy the source code. When I did that the link worked. I think it has to do with where my document is saved, but I'm not sure how to fix that. I'm new to HTML (isn't it obvious?), so I don't really know how to fix this. I am having fun learning HTML through geocaching. I will appreciate any advice you have. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
You would need to create an image of the document. Requiring that cachers download a file is not permitted by the Listing Requirements. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx In the interest of file security, caches that require the downloading, installing or running of data and/or executables may not be published. +azvlr
Ok, but can I create a link to a PDF? If so, how do I do that? Quote Link to comment
+twolpert
No. As MM states, you cannot require anybody to download anything -- Word document, PDF file, or any other kind of data. You need to create an image of the document (.jpg format, for example), upload that as an image related to your cache, and embed an <IMG> tag pointing to that picture in your cache description. +azvlr
I understand. I have just seen other caches that do this (in fact, I was using one particular page as a model.) The link to the document works, so I know I'm doing the programming wrong. I also understand that a previous cache placement does not set precedent for another cache. What I need to know now is how to ensure that folks who view the image can print it at the correct size. I am reluctant to give this information on my page as it gives a clue as to how to solve the puzzle. Thanks. Quote Link to comment

I think those other pages and linking the another web site that holds or hosts that file Good luck Quote Link to comment
