It's totally up to you.

 

I personally filter out my own caches and caches that are not active and select caches that I haven't found. I also use the GPX file instead of LOC because it gives you more information.

 

One thing to remember is that when you are filtering it's an AND statement. For example you can't select "Caches that I don't own" and "Caches that I own" because you can't own AND not own a cache. You won't get both, you'll get nothing.

 

So start out selecting as few things as possible and going with mostly the defaults. See what you get, then try to pare it down a bit to get what you really want.

I selected a radius of 35 miles within my home coordinates. It shows that there are 1179 caches. Of that 1179, which 500 does it select. If I read everything right, it will be sent to me via e-mail, correct? Thanks - cachinspree

 

It will select the closest 500 to your home coordinates based on your selection criteria.
