+MaximillianGraves
Hello! Are there any Nuvi models that record decent track logs? like the handheld models? I have a 60CSx but is not very convenient for the car, so I am thinking getting a Nuvi for the car and have the 60CSx for the field.. but I like to store all my track logs when I am going for off-roading etc.. and a compass feature will be good as well.. I read that the new 500 crossover series dont record many logs?? and the 700 they record, but you cannot transfer them to the pc??? or else I have to get an Oregon I guess.. with the touch screen would be more convenient in the car... Thank you... Quote Link to comment
MtnHermit
Any of the Nuvi 2x5 series will record a tracklog, see sample from a 205W: There are however some differences from your 60CSx tracks. - It will not store them to your SD card, stores in internal memory, but has 700MB of spare flash. - All tracks are stored in a single file, Current.gpx, not separate daily track files. - When the 10,000 point limit is reached, it deletes from the front. - No track controls, time and/or distance, everything is automatic. - From my limited testing compared to my Venture Cx, the Nuvi tracks are less accurate. I suspect that the 500 stores tracks exactly like the 205W, in a single 10K point file. As to transferring to a PC, simply copy the Current.gpx file to a unique folder and/or rename the file to fit your needs. Here's an example of a Nuvi track (cyan) and Venture Cx track (yellow) in Mapsource: Quote Link to comment
