+fivenewfies
Just bought our new toy today, however we're having trouble with the maps n' stuff What are the first things we should do with our new Garmin? Do we need to download any specific maps? Right now it seems we're looking at more of a compass or paper map instead of the detailed picture/illustration that appears on the box/manual. How do we customize? Help! Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
The unit comes with a very basic basemap. The basemap includes only major roads and major cities/towns. If you want/need more detailed maps, you would need to purchase them or get free compatible maps. Quote Link to comment
ao318
I have the 60csx and have Topo 2008. It gives you a more accurate view of maps as you are walking or driving. There are free download maps for your GPS if you search the forums. Type in Free Maps in the search window and it should list some forum links with the information. Quote Link to comment
+Night Stalker
If you want to auto route you will need to purchase a micro SD card. a 2 gig card is around $10 right now. You will then need to buy City Navigator which runs around $119 for the latest version. This will give you all the streets, and with the 2 gig card you should be able to load all the maps in the US.
