I plan on using this unit on the water this year, and mounting it in a vertical position.I have used it on land to find way points using the compass screen.Since this screen requires you to hold the unit level,what screen would I use with it in a vertical position.

If the boat already has a compass on the bridge, I'd just turn off the internal compass in the GPS and use the Map page set to North up.

If you properly swing the compass, it will be far more accurate than the one in the GPS even when held level.

North up will match the GPS to your paper charts.

Use the ram mount, it easily maneuvers to whatever position you want. I use it in my boat and just connect it to the suction cup in my vehicle when driving to and from a lake, very versatile.
