pratzert Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I don't what the heck I did, but the big red pointing arrow thingy that "USED" to be on the compass page has disappeared. I have treie switching between e Pointer" and "Bearing Pointer" to no avail. Thanks for any help. Tim Quote
+coggins Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 (edited) My GPSr will do that too if I select 'stop navigation'. Try selecting a waypoint and see if the arrow returns. Edited January 31, 2008 by coggins Quote
+TexasGringo Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I Think you may have pressed the "Stop Navigation" menu entry Try This: Press the "Find" button Waypoints....Enter Highlight a Cache....Enter Goto....Enter Menu If you see "Resume Navigation" Highlight that and press enter...That should put it back into navigation mode and in the menu you should see "Stop Navigation"...leave it that way. COGGINS & Drooling... Thanks for the quick reply. I have gone to my "Waypoints" screen and it says "None Found". But I am also at work and trying to get a satellite fix and it can't lock in and get a fix. I guess that may be a problem with finding or getting any waypoints ? But while I have your assistance.... how do I perform a "Hard Reset" to factory defaults on the 76CSx ? Do you know what button combination I need to do to reset everything ? I'll keep fooling with the waypoints and try to turn on the "Navigate" funtion to get that arrow back. Thanks, Tim Quote
pratzert Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 OK... I finally got a satellite fix inside my office ( I'm next to a window ) and then I looked up a "Recent Find" and then chose "Go To" and it calculated a route to the destination. When I paged thru to the compass screen.... my Red Arrow was back ! Yaaaa ! So is the only way to keep it there to have it going to a waypoint or destination ? Thanks, Tim Quote
+TexasGringo Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 ***So is the only way to keep it there to have it going to a waypoint or destination ?*** Mine shows when I have selected a waypoint and press "GO". Otherwise it won't show because it has no where to point to. Quote
gallet Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 So is the only way to keep it there to have it going to a waypoint or destination ? Yes, because the red arrow is not a compass, it's a direction pointer and it needs something to point at. The outer ring with NSEW on it is the compass. Hard reset Quote
+apersson850 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) It also needs to know where you are, as otherwise there's no place to go from. It may be that you need to set it to "Use with GPS off" to get an arrow from where you were last time. Edited February 1, 2008 by apersson850 Quote
pratzert Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Thanks for all of the input. The most perplexing thing to me was that I do not know exactly what the heck I did to make the arrow disappear. Not I know what I must have done.... and better yet, I now know how to fix it and get the arrow back. The memberes of these forums are GREAT ! Tim Quote
Grasscatcher Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 What you did was "Stop Navigation". If you're not navigating, it has no location to "Point" to. Quote
