+Phipps Family
I have Delorme 2005 mapping software. It says that it is compatible with the Garmin eTrex series of handhelds, however I can not get it to recognize my Vista C. I was hoping I could use the my Vista w/Delorme on my laptop for routing on trips this summer. Does anyone have any experience with the Delorme software? I thought maybe there was an "output" setting on my Vista, but I haven't found one yet. Quote Link to comment
+Team DeLorme
Hello Phipps', Your Vista C may be compatible with the DeLorme 2005 software. There are 2 potential issues. 1-Software may be out of date, with each software release we update the GPS devices that are compatible. 2-The device is not compatible with the computer is the first place (when you plug the device into the computer does Windows recognize it?) Check this DeLorme support site: http://www.delorme.com/support/supporttemplate.aspx?id=348 Also, are you using Street Atlas USA or Topo USA? Topo is a far more "geocaching friendly" software, for the record. You can always contact DeLorme technical support for more info as well. (207) 846-8900 I hope this helps! -Brian Team DeLorme Quote Link to comment
+Team DeLorme
More info after a quick check with TS... A service pack is available for Street Atlas USA 2005 allowing exchange of waypoints, tracks and routes with USB Garmin devices like your Vista C. It will also allow you to connect the device to your laptop for in-vehicle navigation. Follow the link below and run the update. http://www.delorme.com/support/supporttemplate.aspx?id=158 Let us know if you have any questions. +Phipps Family
Awesome!! Thank you. I will check out the links you provided. Hooking the Vista C up to a laptop is exactly what I was wanting to do. Thought maybe I could save some $$ by not having to buy the Mapsource programs right now. Quote Link to comment
+Phipps Family
Chip, That did it!! Hooked up the GPS, did the set-up and it's tracking! I figured out how to download the tracks and waypoints, this is just too cool! Thanks again!! Quote Link to comment
