+jallman Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I am new to geocaching... my dad got a Garmin Vista Cx as a safety award at his work and I was helping him figure out how to use it (he's not the most electronic friendly person) and came across GeoCaching in the book.. it peeked my interest so I have been researching. I now am going to buy a GPS for me!! I have been looking hard... I like the Garmin's because you can send the coords to the GPS automatically from the site!! I need some advice... My first thought was a 60CSX. It's about the size of the 2-way radios that we always carry around so I think it would work well... BUT... I read that the Vista HCx might be better... Any suggestions? I don't have to have a Garmin if there is something better... Thanks! Jason Quote
+JSWilson64 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I haven't tried the newer "H" models, but I really like my 60CSx. I have a Legend, too, and much prefer the buttons to the click stick. YMMV - it's all about what works in your hand, in your car, on your bike, etc. Quote
+pigpen4x4 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I have both, and will say you will be very happy with either one. PP Quote
gratefulHIKE Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I second pigpen.......the only way to choose really is by preference....go get them in your hand, and see which you feel more comfortable with Quote
jholly Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 If your going to go with a Etrex, get one of the H models. The 60csx is a nice unit and for about the same money you can get a 76csx. Like what was posted before, go to a store and get one in your hands and see what you like. Far as performance, the H's, 60csx and 76csx are all about the same. Jim Quote
