Team rbass Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 I haven't been caching for a long time, so I consider myself a greenhorn cacher still. I have seen a lot of interesting ideas so far and would like to get your feedback. 1. The Gladware bowl, will it withstand the rigors of caching. 2. What are your thoughts on using an item or container similar to a cache that you found on the hunt. I know there are premade caches and such but what about trying to duplicate something that someone made that is uniqe, would I be ripping them off or is that fair game. Quote
nonaeroterraqueous Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 1. Gladware: Don't use it. It's cheap, I know, but it isn't worth the money. Use a rubbermaid or tupperware...please. Better yet, use a lock-n-lock or snapware. 2. Idea rip-offs: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Just try to do something a little different with the idea. Make it a somewhat different version of the thing, at least. Otherwise, at least you're hiding what you'd like to find. That's the important thing. Quote
+Mach2003 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Gladware lasts a very short time out there, before it cracks and leaks. Copy the hides you like best, in some circumstances (same town) you may want to email the original creator to ask what they think, before you snag the idea. Quote

No. The lids leak and come off easily. I've heard of temp changes popping off the lid 2. In geocaching there is very rarely something entirely new. Nearly every cache idea has been ripped off from someone else. If you see an idea you like, go for it. It would be nice however to give credit to the originator on the cache page. Something like "I got this idea from JoeCacher's excellent A Walk in the Woods cache" Quote
