+Cambrook
I bought my GPS yesterday and found my first caches today. I picked up a TB in one and when I put in the number it says "not activated". I'm traveling about 700 miles tomorrow and want to drop in a new location. Can I do that or do I have to wait until someone "activates" it. I've been searching for help for a couple hours and finally gave up. Thx for assistance and apologies if this is a dumb newbie question. Quote Link to comment

I grabbed a TB from a cache today on the WMRT in Maryland and I have the same problem. I have the TB #, but when you enter it, it responds that it has not been activated. You can not activate the bug because you do not have the code to do so. If someone in Groundspeak has the answer, how about shedding some light on this problem. Quote Link to comment

Go to the bug page, Select Found It? Log it! log type Retrieve, type in comments, etc. In the tracking number field, enter in the number imprinted on the metal dogtag, check for things like O vs 0, l vs 1, etc. Quote Link to comment

Just not sure which one you picked up; Slug Bug Brad? I see you've logged plenty of bugs but the first step is to check it again. O vs 0, etc. Then from there we'll see if there's a technical issue somewhere. If it isn't listed in the cache then we'll have to see if we can determined who might have been it in there unactivated. I picket the bug up at "THE ROCK PILE" . It has a key fog with a celtic icon on one side and a turqoise/multi-color on the other side. If I type in <tracking number removed by moderator> I get 'Not activated'. It I type in <tracking number removed by moderator> I get "Does not exist". I am putting this in on the "trackable item" page. thx. Edited November 5, 2007 by Eartha Quote Link to comment

BUT... why does it show 'not activated' when I type it in trackables? And thx for the help because I find that it's on it's way to TN and I was going to take it to NY! Which listing is it, the Horizon GeoCoin? AAAAAARRRRGH! My frustration increases!! I found a geocoin on the inventory list that is on it's way to TN. There are 3 posts about it. But I can't post because I don't have a number. The log about the geo coin says "Use TB1FKPV to reference this item. " So that must not be what I have. I described it in a previous post and there is a dog tag that says "The Travel Bug" at the top and then the code "YJ063M" at the bottom. My thought now is to just dump it some cache and let somebody else deal with this! Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
Hold on, we'll get there! The TB1FKPV is just a reference number, it's not used for logging. Sending you an email to try a couple things. Quote Link to comment

Got a similar problem -- we picked up a California Highway Patrol geocoin, but when we enter the tracking number, it comes up 'Sorry--unactivated'. It was not in any kind of wrapper, not even a little plastic bag. Where can we find the activation code for this 7-pointed geocoin ?? (Very cool detail and design!) Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
Any chance of determining who might have dropped it in there? Activating coins is a whole different ballgame. It would probably be better if you ask about this over in the geocoin forum. Quote Link to comment
