What is the purpose of "update unit code" Is it to recognise your gps and basically set up the software?

I have that product. Where do you see "update unit code?" I just did a quick check and don't see it in Mapsource, which, as far as I know, you need to run TOPO Canada.

Disk 1 in the main index. Theres a tab that says "update unit code"

 

When you have your cursor on that tab it says "Update your gps unit code""Topo Canada install required"

Nothing you should worry about since TopoCanada doesn't require unlock codes!
