trick the gps

i want to review a route in utah that im planning to take. i live in ct. how do i fool the 60 csx to think im in utah so i can see this route and make sure it will follow my preplanned route.

Your GPS gets it's information from satellites. I think you may have a hard time tricking them into thinking your unit is some place it's not. :ph34r: However you should be able to plot it out on your Mapsource software.

You can't fool the GPS. You might be able to pan and zoom on the GPS screen to see how your route will look there, but that's about all.

 

To really plan/review a route I would use a tool designed for that, like Google Earth

My Lowrance GPS has a simulator feature that will do something close to what you describe, which is follow a route that is active.

 

I would think an advanced unit like a 60Csx would have one. My Garmin 72 has a simulator, but I think you control it with the pan key.

From the Satellite page, menu->Use with gps off, then menu->New Location.

Sorry. My bad. You said 60csx. rwsmith's instructions are correct.
