Geocahing gadget for Windows Sidebar

Wouldn't it be nice with a windows sidebar gadget to view geocaching information? Ie. FTF-opportunities etc?

 

I'm looking into this and I challenge YOU to make one before I'm finished with mine!

The real challenge will be making one that doesnt violate the Terms Of Use.

If the TOS allow us to look at the gc data from our computer, what does it matter if we look at it with a Windows Sidebar Gadget or Cachemate or Excel or whatever method we want to look at it?

 

Assuming, of course, that the tool will only access the data that we are entitled to by our membership level (free/Premium).

 

Sharing it is the issue, not tools to look at it, right? Or am I missing something?

You agree that you will not use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access the Site for any purpose without our express written permission.

which is exactly what a sidebar or widget usually does.

Cachemate or GSAK and other tools use the PQs; they don't scrape data off the webserver.

Im sure there is a way to get the info, doesnt it give instant notification to cell phones and email??

I remember some time ago seeing a link to a Geocaching sidebar that was compatible with Internet Explorer. It was basically just a search bar. I don't have the link now but will try to find it in my bookmarks. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I didn't build it or anything. I don't think I've ever used it.

I've seen similar Google homepage gadgets.
