I have a Lowrance Ifinder Expedition C and use MapCreate 6.3.282. I get to the point where I am to upload the map to my GPS. It asks me where to save the map, which I save to the SD card in the card reader. It goes through the motions and at the very end, I dialoge box pops up with "File Error: D\Colorad.lcm" at the top and says in the box, "Parameter is incorrect". I press "OK". Then another dialogue box pops up. It says, "mcgrphx" at the top and the box says, "File Reading Error on Atlas:D\Colorado.lcm". I press "OK." Then another dialogue box pops up, which says, "Assert Failed" at the top and in the box it says, "File\Projects\GIS\At5common\cartstream.ccp Line 171 At5 Assert ("File Reading Error on Atlas:"))". I again press "OK." Then a final dialogue box pops up which reads, "Create Custom Map- Creates a map file your GPS unit can use: Mapcreate.exe- Applicaton Error" at the top and within the box it says, "The instruction at "0x00000000" Referenced Memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read." Click "OK" to terminate the program."

The mapfile shows up on my memory card but the GPS doesn't read it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've never seen this before, but my first thought would be to ask you if you had registered your SD card with MapCreate. In Mapcreate, select Tools from the top menu, then Card Registry. You can register five cards to MapCreate 6.3, and it has to be registered to transfer.

If it's already registered, try shutting you computer down and restarting with the card in the reader. For some reason, my card reader stops communicating with the computer and I have to re-start to get it to work.

Normally, map creation is a pretty painless process, so if the above doesn't work, you might be looking at a bad card reader.

Based on what I've read, Lowrance customer service is very responsive about replacing these.

I think I figured out the problem. Everything was registered and working, but I noticed that my 2GB SD card was only showing up as a 1GB SD card. So I think the whole "parameter is incorrect" and all the other warning errors are due to a malfunctioning SD card. I'm going to try with another card and see if these errors go away.

Lowrance did replace my card reader. It fixed one problem that I was having that was not related to the error messages I was getting.

Thanks for the reply!

Oooh, I'm not sure that your Expedition will accept more than a 1 GB card. I haven't heard where anyone has had any success with more than 1 GB, so please keep that in mind if you try another card.

I have a Expedition C and I've been using a 2GB SD card in it since Oct 06only thing I've noticed is that no matter what card i use if the file is more that 3/4 the size of the card it won't load on the card. I'm guessing the extra space is for waypionts?
