Garmin GPS connect to Ipaq 6365

Recommended Posts

Any help / advice / comments most appreciated here!

I've managed to put together a cable from the Ipaq to the GPS (one end Ipaq, other end Y split fits to Etrex and 60CS). Tried it with both GPSs but can't get a connect. I've wired up pins 7 & 8 from the Ipaq (from here) to the appropriate pins on the plugs Rx<-->Tx but without any joy. Neither Wififofum nor Winfast Navigator can connect to a comm port: GPS set to NMEA and 4800.

3 possibilities spring to mind:

- I stuffed the cable wiring: possible, but checked okay on the meter

- The 6365 is like the 6315 and doesn't have serial on pins 7&8: although it does apparently support an external kbd

- there's a magic tweak required on the 6365 required to get a comm port enabled for use: suggestions?

Has anyone else got one of these little beasties talking with a GPS?

Thanks,

G.
